Toomey Tourell Gallery: Jeffrey Long - Birds of California, the West and Other Places.
Review by RWM: Interesting birds doing some interesting things. Not all wildlife spectacle, but also context, encounters and politics. Not quite wild, but informative and contemplative.
Comment by AB: John James Audubon never made it out West, Jeffrey Long tells me, so he fills in some of Audubon's blanks with this show, updating his environments to reflect the not-so-wild West of today, plus commentary on what's happening to our land and wildlife, as appropriate. Pick of First Thursday Runner-up.

111 Minna Gallery: Risk (Kelly Graval) and Cooz (Nathan Ota) - That Was Then, This is Now.
Comment by AB: Risk and Cooz paint up a kinder gentler urban stomping ground. You still have to watch your ass, but the decor is really agreeable.

Ever Gold Gallery: Theta Pegasi - Tahiti Pehrson.
Review by Clare Coppel: Cut paper design art by Tahiti Pehrson in straightforward organized patterns. Then you look at the pile of exacto blades that have been used to create them, and that is truly something to think about... so much work goes into what at first appears so simple.
