Jessica Silverman Gallery: Ciphers - Hayal Pozanti.
Comment by AB: Hayal Pozanti essentially creates her own alphanumeric system to comment on social and political issues, online privacy, digital lifestyles and the like. Stop on by and immerse yourself in her cryptic abstract aesthetics.

Romer Young Gallery: Joshua Pieper - Dry State.
Comment by AB: In this campy send up of serious art, Joshua Pieper pairs photographs of people with either the same or similar names, conscripts the show poster into service as art and then multiples it up, throws in a couple of video sculptures-- one of a boombox (my favorite) and another of plants, and just to make sure you get it, declares that you're being had on a monumental sandwich board.

The punchline's on the back of the sandwich board.
