Comment by AB: Yet another chapter... I mean book... in the lives of Angela Fisher and Carol Beckwith, two internationally recognized photographers devoted to documenting the vanishing lifestyles and cultures of indigenous Africans.

Toomey Tourell Gallery: Maria Park - Counter Nature 2.
Comment by AB: Maria Park's variegated landscapes and coastal scenes at times evolve into abstraction, and being painted on Acrylite and polycarbonate, remind somewhat of reverse paintings on glass.

A440 Gallery: Hannah Stouffer and William Keihn - Ars Moriendi.
Comment by AB: Circuitous serpents and a macabre shrine signify the atmosphere here, perhaps inadvertently serving to usher in the Official 2010 All Hallows Eve Costume Season.

George Lawson Gallery: Stephen Westfall - Paintings; Clem Crosby - Paintings.
Comment by AB: New York artist Stephen Westfall handles the electric geometrics while Clem Crosby waxes cryptically minimal.

Adler & Co Gallery: Kelly Reemtsen - It's My Party...
Comment by AB: Come-hither torsos all frocked up, and on occasion, accessorized with some rather alarming accouterments. Strangely seductive icebreakers for offbeats. Check 'em out.

George Krevsky Gallery: Helen Berggruen - Itinerant Regionalist.
Review by RWM: Vincent Van Gogh meets Thomas Hart Benton except that the subject matters are upbeat and sunny. Helen Berggruen's details are more solid than both of these artists, not reveling exclusively in style, as her compositions fulfill those longings for the rural, and quieter times.

Dolby Chadwick Gallery: Alex Kanevsky - Heroes and Animals.
Comment by AB: Alex Kanevsky's show statement is a mite dense for my tastes, but there's no question the dude can paint (just ask the fan base; they turn out in force). And though the storyline is unclear, the stand-alone steadfastness of the individual works is more than adequate to catapult you over the chasm. Sidle on by.

Danish Silver Gallery: Georg Jensen Silver.
Comment by AB: Vintage and contemporary silver by Georg Jensen, founded in 1904 by famed Danish silversmith and designer Georg Jensen (1886-1935). If you've never seen Jensen silver, you're in for a major treat.
