Jenkins Johnson Gallery: Scott Fraser - Outside the Box.
Review by RWM: Fantastical creations. Interesting to see the novel portrayed in realistic forms, an orange with a peel obviously too long, and arrows coordinated with each other in flight. Chocolate kisses falling, but some held by strings? This work amazes, bridging the real and magical. Wonderful images play with your mind.

Eli Ridgway Gallery: Lindsey White - Matter of Fact.
Comment by AB: Lindsey White explores the lighter side of art with a multimedia medley of commendably rendered sight gags involving broken glass, spilled water, dripping paint, colorful exploding forms, and other minor catastrophes. Worth a look.

Crown Point Press: Anne Appleby - New Releases; Richard Diebenkorn - Prints and Proofs.
Comment by AB: Impressive ongoing Richard Diebenkorn exhibit in the main gallery surveys 30 years of printmaking plus several step-by-step sequences of how impressions were produced. Also on display are recent releases by Anne Appleby. It's all good here.
One thing I really love about the Crown Point website-- all of their prices are online. What's the big secret about art prices anyway? I'll never understand why they're so inaccessible... other than to give one person some meaningless sense of power over another, I suppose. Don't be cowards. Price it, make it public, be prepared to dialogue about it with anyone who asks-- or even defend it. What could be simpler? Or braver?

Hosfelt Gallery: Private Frontiers - Chris Ballantyne & Michael Light.
Comment by AB: Both Chris Ballantyne and Michael Light investigate various manifestations of man's impingement on the environment, Ballantyne from a more conceptual perspective, isolating out people-less elements like fences, pennant flags, outbuildings and parking lots. Light's aerial photography, published both as images and large-format books, focuses on real estate developments, mainly in their carved, graded and demarcated formative stages. For those of you keeping score at home, Light simultaneously flies his own plane while photographing the landscape. Definitely worth seeing.
