Meridian Gallery: Speak, Memory - Heike Liss, Ruth Eckland, Vera Kachouh.
Comment by AB: One the main floor, drawings by Heike Liss call to mind primitive life forms or perhaps single-celled organisms. The second floor features videos by Ruth Eckland that breathe life into expressionist art, while on the top floor, Vera Kachouh takes us on an eerie yet artful trip through a bombed out Lebanese home... reminding us how good we have it here in America.

Arc Studios & Gallery: Dollhouse - Bay Area Juried Exhibition.
Artists: Richard Bolingbroke, Jan Brugger, Elizabeth Cayne, Taylor Crawley, Miles Epstein, Kat Flyn, Felicia Forte, Paul Gibson, Kevin Grady, Audrey Heller, Liesa Lietzke, Erin Malone, Stephani Martinez, Kristine Mays, Jessica McCoy, Kaitlin McSweeney, Beth Mullins, Camilla Newhagen, Danielle O'Malley, Celena Peet, Archil Pichkhadze, Lucky Rapp, Anne Ross, Maja Ruznic, Tracy Sengillo, Kirsten Stolle, Yuriko Takata, Rusty Tea, Stephen C. Wagner, Linda Wallgren, Sharon Wickham, Greg Wilson.
Comment by AB: According to the ground rules, this extravaganza's all about dolls-- what they signified when we were young, what they mean now, how they haunt us, whether they'll eventually rule the planet, and basically everything else. Who wins? I have no idea. But I do know this... it's just a little bit creepy. Stop on by. It warrants a perusal.

Gravel & Gold: New Work by Aaron Rodriguez.
Comment by AB: Intriguing black & white collage works by Aaron Rodriguez engage with repetitive imagery, and resolve nicely both close in and at a distance. Good stuff; check it out.

Incline Gallery: Something from Nothing - Grand Opening.
Artists: San Pancho Art Collective and friends.
Comment by AB: The gallery is situated down a really skinny alley off Valencia St. and then you go inside and there's this incline which zigzags its way back and forth, up and up, for three floors, and all along the walls all the way up is art. That's the deal. The alley alone puts you instantly in the mood... and it's all uphill from there. I like it.
Here we are... Incline Gallery. Looks interesting. Shall we?

Artists: Allison Reimold, Ayami Kawashima, Irma Rivera, Juri Ueda, May Ann Licudine, Megan Kimber, Raquel Aparicio, Veronica Hebard.
Comment by AB: This is the swan song show for Gallery 1988 in San Francisco; the Los Angeles headquarters will carry on the tradition. Sorry to see you go...

Queens Nails Projects: Suzy Poling - Zone Modules.
Comment by AB: Energized multimedia installation by Suzy Poling stimulates the senses, particularly that of sound. Tough to photograph this one... sorry.
