Jack Fischer Gallery: Two Pencils - Kevin B Chen and Christina Empedocles.
Comment by AB: Mastery of graphite is the order of the day in this pinkie cam paradise. Kevin B Chen tells me that his intricate architectural metropolitan renditions represent utopian cities of the future where no matter who we are, where we come from or what our backgrounds, we all live together as one. Christina Empedocles basically crumples things up like wildlife prints, vintage advertisements and movie posters, and then accurately replicates the results thereof, occasionally embellishing them with her own editorial flourishes. Good stuff; go see.

ArtZone 461 Gallery: Lucky Rapp - C'est Moi Chérie; Sonja Navin - The Insistance of Color.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, Lucky Rapp shows her glistening, often intimate resin-coated textual works, while in the side gallery, Sonja Navin's paintings transit a variety of topics from figural works to cityscapes.

Mirus Gallery: Quintessence - Damon Soule.
Review by RWM: The mind blowing trippy work in this show will have you enjoying a consciousness-altering experience. Beautiful freeform paintings will take you for rides into places you might not have seen on this planet. Viewers may be journeying to their inner psyches for wildness they can only dream of. Fascinating creativity which despite its strangeness approaches the sublime.
Comment by AB: You know certain places don't really exist, that is until Damon Soule paints them, at which point you might muse to yourself that maybe-- just maybe-- they do. The paintings are completely sold out, as well they should be. Worth seeing.
