Andrea Schwartz Gallery: Alex Couwenberg - crosscurrent.
Comment by AB: Alex Couwenberg trundles a touch of LA up north with his expansive streamlined abstractonist style that embraces everything from vintage modern to hard edge to surf and car culture. They look almost like collages in the way that they're layered, even up close, but they're pure acrylic through and through. Stop on by.

RayKo Photo Center: Confessions for a Son - Photographs by McNair Evans; Crafted at RayKo - Kirk Crippens, Taichi Gondara, Rachael Jablo, Atusko Morita, Ryuten Paul Rosenblum, Henry Walker.
Comment by AB: McNair Evans wrestles to reconcile his past with his present, life with death, via his relationship to his father who is no longer with us, and as difficult as these anthropological explorations may be. He'd rather not talk about it in person, but instead refers me to the show-- a combination of his photographs, his father's photographs and various surviving documents and memorabilia. May the mysteries of our pasts one day be solved or better yet, resolved.
In the righthand gallery is a group show of photographs produced in RayKo's labs by six photographers.
