ArtZone 461 Gallery: Black & White - Randy Beckelheimer.
Comment by AB: Ghostly black and white paintings by Randy Beckelheimer based on vintage black & white photographs, mainly of military subject matters circa World War II, some of Hunters Point shipyard back in the day, remind us that art is far more elevating and uplifting than heavy weaponry. Regrettably, that fact is not likely to make any major difference to anyone anytime soon. Too bad. Way too bad.

Galeria de la Raza: In The Beginning Was Fox & Cinnamon - Mercedes Dorame.
Comment by AB: Mercedes Dorame is a member of the Gabrielino Tongva Indians of California, a tribe not formally recognized, meaning they that have no reservation lands. Whatever formally being recognized formally entails, the photographs here are of Southern California lands that the tribe once inhabited, some of which are now high value real estate, others uninhabited and notable mainly for litter and neglect. Gets us thinking about those whose lives we long ago displaced... and their descendants.
