Comment by AB: Sandow Birk continues to broach subjects that the overwhelming majority of artists (and galleries) stay way far away from, never shying away from in-depth investigations of facts and truths, creating work that's always in your face but in the subtlest of ways. This time around, he uncompromisingly interprets "great moments in history." The superficial sectors of artland pay him little mind; the only art they care about is flamboyant flashy bright easy and instant in effect. Art for idiots, if you will. Here you gotta take some time, dig deep, pay attention and slowly soak it all in. The good news is it's well worth the effort. Whatever your preferences, these are some of the best large-scale ink drawings and etchings you're ever gonna see. Brilliant.
