Jancar Jones Gallery: Bill Jenkins - Lids and Dots.
Review by RWM: Dots on the wall will have you reeling from the associated movement. They seem almost like an optical illusion, working in tandem with each other to create a sense of spinning. The accompanying sculptures are more grounding, but puzzling nonetheless.
Comment by AB: This one's pretty cryptic all the way around. The score card splays it like this-- the art explores "the relationship between a physically defined space and the particular possibilities for action it produces, while presenting an open question about the physical limits and effects of human behavior within a built environment." As for the dots, "Jenkins continues an ongoing experiment in wresting control of the architecture from the exhibition space itself." It's precisely that simple and no more complicated.

San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall: Davies After Hours - Yong Han Sculpture.
Comment by AB: Every now and again, the San Francisco Symphony hosts an after hours event immediately post-concert on the top floor of Davies Symphony Hall. Tonight's delight features bent welded sculpture by Yong Han, jazz by Matt Small and the Crushing Spiral Ensemble, and atmosphere courtesy of the color orange (Go Giants!).
Now for those of you who have never seen the San Francisco Symphony live, you're in for a real treat. And for those of you who care to splurge on a couple of cherry seats, you're in for a transcendent experience. Hey-- you only get one lap around the track, right? Go for it!
