Gregory Lind Gallery: Dannielle Tegeder - The Library of Abstract Sound.
Comment by AB: Dannielle Tegeder's precision modernist abstractions are meant to reference ways in which technological systems and networks interact and interconnect with special emphasis on visualizing sound. Works on paper in both large and small formats are admirably proficient from a technical perspective, however they occasionally wax perilously Kandinsky-esque.

Don Soker Gallery: Red Lines - Veronika Dobers; Tim Rice - Recent Paintings.
Comment by AB: If you could see thoughts or decision processes, what might they look like? Veronika Dobers postulates on that with her strange cerebral compositions. As for Tim Rice, it's largely about the process with some of his mixed media compositions initially taking shape while submerged underwater.

Alter Space: IRL.
Artists: Christine Elfman, Kate Nartker, Maria Porges, Jennie Lennick, Vanesa Gingold.
Comment by AB: Vanesa Gingold claims the ceilings and a wall with her dimensional escapades, Maria Porges repurposes discarded books, Kate Nartker videos fabrics close up complete with the de rigueur nebulous soundtrack, Jennie Lennick riffs on prismatic mylar, and more.

Arc Gallery & Studios: APAture 2013.
Artists: Michael Namkung, JiEun Chun, Daria Garina, Alison Ho, Katy Kondo, Angie Lee, Mido Lee, Trinh Mai, Yuki Maruyama, Marcius Noceda, Lauren Quock, Janice Suhji, Jessica Tang, Monica Tzeng, Daisy Wong, Pamela Ybañez, Bing Zhang, Wenxin Zhang.
Comment by AB: This one's about emerging Asian-American artists, but if you look a little closer, it's also about being Asian in America, including a number of thoughtful artistic reminders to treat people like people and not like our prejudicial perceptions of them. Are we there yet? Not really... but hopefully soon.
