IcTus Gallery: Assembly Line - Li Xiaofei.
Review by RWM: Industry and mechanization as art, even if one gets lost in the sloth and piles of raw materials. Warhol would have concurred about these pre-industrial states of things, exploring the creative process before it's complete. Beauty in the eye of the beholder.
Comment by AB: Provocative exploration of the assembly line lifestyle. Would you do work in a factory on an assembly line? Could you? The ultimate meditation, you might say, the same thing all day every day, perhaps for the rest of your life-- repeat repeat repeat. But sooner or later, don't we all do that with our lives anyway?

a.Muse Gallery: Mood Swing - How Color Affects Emotion.
Artists: Elizabeth Amento, Theodore Knox, Alex Garcia, Chico Coelho, Jeffrey Thompson.
Comment by AB: How color affects emotion? Isn't color in pretty much every art show on the face of the planet? Plus some of the work isn't even in color. Stymied again.

Steven Wolf Fine Arts: Scott Williams - Home Invasion; Brent Green - To Many Men Strange Fates Are Given.
Comment by AB: Venerable stencil-meister Scott Williams faithfully recreates his Mission District studio space complete with antique hanging light fixtures, wainscoting, air vents, furnishings, vintage second hand store paintings, artist books, and more. This one's a pure unadulterated visual jamboree. In the back gallery, Brent Green constructs an elaborate light/video/sound/sculptural smorgasbord complete with cornucopia headphones, the total effect glorified yet more when you don a pair of magic handmade glasses to 3D the dealie bob up. A winner on both counts. Stop by.

Truesilver Gallery: Erik Parra - West Facing.
Comment by AB: This architectural escapade examines the assets and liabilities of modern living, particularly from the perspective of looking out of windows. What do you see when you look out of your window? Something or nothing? Is the something you see really nothing? Or is the nothing you see really something? Ponder that here. Then when you go home tonight, look out your windows and report back.

Addendum:
They tell me ROA's still primping the space at 941 Geary Gallery 20 minutes after the show was supposed to have opened. Oh well. Maybe next time.
