San Francisco Art Institute: Temporary Structures. Curated by Glen Helfand and Cydney M. Payton.
Artists: Pawel Althamer, Roberto Behar & Rosario Marquardt, David Gissen, Amy M. Ho, Paul Kos, Roy McMakin, Christian Nagler & Azin Seraj, Ben Peterson, Michael Robinson, Jonathan Runcio, Mungo Thomson, Together We Can Defeat Capitalism. Curated by Glen Helfand and Cydney M. Payton.
Comment by AB: According to the expository, "The projects address aesthetic, political, and social ideals, ranging from the rise of consumer culture to 19th-century French uprisings to the recent Occupy movement, and help bring new meaning and understanding to the past and present." Wow. That covers pretty much everything. No baby steps here.

Comment by AB: Over 700 patrons and supporters gather to get festive and bid on over 140 works of art that go on the block (both silent and live auctions) in this major annual fundraiser. I'm told that over $200,000 was raised for the cause. It's a great art party for a great cause. "Art for AIDS benefits UCSF's Alliance Health Project (AHP), serving the community for more than 27 years with free HIV testing, education, counseling, and mental health services."
