Jancar Jones Gallery: 16777216 - Richard S. Mitchell.
Review by RWM: Interesting exploration of the use of color, but maybe more of juxtapositions and subliminal messages. You can easily lose track of the changes that are underway and stare long enough to find moments of beginning, but the ends are not always in sight.
Comment by AB: Richard S. Mitchell's whips himself up a computer piece that successively scrolls through all 16,777,216 colors comprising the RGB color model at a rate of 25 successions per second. Total time necessary to watch the entire drama unfold? 8 1/2 days. The suspense is killing me!

Eko Table at 5 Claude: Introducing Eko Table.
Artists: Erin Gallup, John Whitmarsh, more.
Review by RWM: Desire and the female persona; feminine symbols that we recognize like flowers and pearls; edibles like cherries, lemon, tomatoes and blueberries. Here might be an homage to how women appreciate being seen by others... with all sorts of odd smiles, some of which may no longer now be possible (or appropriate). Have we grown beyond those good old days, or do we look back and yearn? Hard to know the answer because these days, smiling faces have been oddly juxtaposed and intertwined with new meanings.
Comment by AB: I'm told that this is the debut of Eko Table, a website designed to match creative talent with producers all here in the Bay Region, the endgame being to take back our economy, to manufacture and shop locally, and in so doing, to stop sending our hard-earned dollars to foreign countries like China and Los Angeles (kidding... I actually love LA). As for the show, I'm partial to the furniture and wall works of John Whitmarsh. Coffee tables made from used pallet wood-- impressive.
