San Francisco Museum of Modern Art: Images in Dialogue - Paul Klee and Andrew Schoultz.

Comment by AB: Andrew Schoultz tells me that along with Assistant Curator of Collections, Exhibitions and Commissions, John Zarobell, he looked through all of SFMOMA's Paul Klee artworks in storage multiple times, eventually selected about twenty pieces, and with those in mind, made about fifteen of his own. Nine of those fifteen are here on display here alongside the twenty by Klee. Draughtsmanship, exactitude, dialogue, and sociopolitical overtones-- comparisons and similarities abound. Apologies on image quality; forgot my camera chip, had to use my phone, exceptionally crowded on top of that. Enough excuses for you? I hope so. Guess that means you're gonna have to go see it in person. Fortunately, it's worth the trip.

And later that night, an after party at Schoultz's San Francisco studio... You might notice from the images that he collects the work of other artists. Nice to support your fellow practitioners, and a practice that's highly recommended.

Maltese Embassy & Satellite66: New/Exploration/Paper - Nicole Aptekar; Frank Theophani Callozzo - Paintings & Drawings.

Comment by AB: Two galleries, same location-- 66 6th Street & Maltese Embassy. Laser-cut paperboard by Nicole Aptekar and paintings and drawings by Frank Theophani Callozzo-- meticulousness and detail on both counts.

The Lab: Laura Zuspan - Eco Sexy.

Comment by AB: Laura Zuspan spends a year living with a life-sized rag doll named Dolly in this strange "sustainable" relationship, the show being a multimedia documentation of that. When I ask what she concluded from the experience, she tells me she has no idea. And that pretty much wraps it for me.

Fabric8 Gallery: Back Door, A MUNI Bus Show - Andy Stattmiller.

Review by RWM: Not sure what to think about MUNI? Not sure what to say? Here are some options-- you can count your blessings or be inspired by the hell. In a city with neighborhood segregation, you can always find the melting pot on the bus. You can people watch there and sometimes talk with strangers. This exploration will get you thinking about the pros and cons of shared transportation. Not too many feet to step on or over in this art which will drive you down the MUNI road.
