Sandra Lee Gallery: Summer Breeze - James Watts and Maria Lobo.
Comment by AB: James Watts collects discards and refuse, applies finishes to them by means of patination, oxidation and polishing, and combines them into assemblage-like abstractions with organic appearances. Born and raised on Hong Kong, Maria Lobo creates mixed media paintings that blend elements of East and West.

ArtHaus Gallery: Carolyn Meyer - The Italy Paintings;Inside Out, Curated by Carole Austin.
Inside Out artists: Inez Storer, Loreen Barry, Rhonda Travethick, Sharon Christovich, Carole Austin.
Comment by AB: As Co-director of Academy of Art University's Graduate School of Fine Art, Painting and Associate Director of the University's School of Fine Art, Carolyn Meyer's job description includes leading promising students on a painting trip to Italy once a year (nice gig if you can get it). She paints right alongside everyone else, as evidenced by the sumptuous cake frosting, impasto compositions on display here. In the side gallery, four area artists show a selection of orderly assemblage art in boxes. Period elements used in their construction impart distinct vintage feels.
