Jessica Silverman Gallery: The History of Technology.

Artists: Simon Denny, Samuel Levi Jones, Dashiell Manley, Philipp Timischl, Margo Wolowiec.

Comment by AB: This group show references as well as incorporates various aspects of technology, obsolete as well as innovative, providing viewers with opportunities to cogitate on how evolutionary advancements not only impact the making of art, but also the trajectories of our lives in general. Worth seeing.

The Luggage Store Gallery: Teresa Baker.

Review by Anna Rotty: Teresa Baker's solo show at the Luggage Store is bold, tactile and just may be breaking the barrier between 2 and 3D. Using painted textiles and ribbon wrapped around, and folding off of, traditional canvases, her work is surprising and employs an innovative use of material.

Comment by AB: 2014 Headlands Center for the Arts Tournesol Awardee Teresa Baker combines fabric, canvas and paint in unconventional ways. Sadly, one might get the impression from the slapdash haphazard appearance of things that the art comes up short in either technical finesse, attention to detail or both.

Fouladi Projects: Be/Longing - Summer Photography Show.

Artists: Nina Dietzel, Darija Jelincic, Anne Veraldi.

Review by Anna Rotty: Fouladi Projects offers a wonderful collection of work by three photographers this month. As a whole, the show investigates solitude, longing and containment. Anne Veraldi's clean studio-style portraits of memorabilia focus on capturing and preserving memories. Nina Dietzel's diptychs do what great diptychs are supposed to do, enhancing and strengthening one another with their similarities and juxtapositions. Darija Jelincic's images are soft and beautiful, depicting scenes of people "escaping" to various environments.

FFDG: Jim Houser - Night Got Quiet, Not Quite Light.

Comment by AB: Precise stylized compositions with a bit of a vintage feel by Jim Houser, some of which blend pop culture imagery with various vignettes while others are all about pattern and abstract. Nicely done.
