Gallery Paule Anglim: David Hannah - cycle; William Tucker - Monotypes and Sculpture.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, meditative monotone mixed-media abstractions by David Hannah look something like snow covered branches or wintry forest scenes as viewed through draped windows. In the side gallery, hand-embellished monotypes and sculptures by William Tucker recall forms and elements of classical sculpture. Nicely done on both counts.

Market Street Gallery: Thumbprint - Elizabeth Tana.
Review by RWM: The personal becomes abstract in paintings that turn out to be distinctive.
Comment by AB: As every person's thumbprint is unique, so are these adept large-scale paintings by Elizabeth Tana-- abstract representations of her life, identity and individuality.

IcTus Gallery: Transfiguration, Uncovering the Hidden - Pak Han.
Review by RWM: For Western Eyes, some of the symbolism and meanings may be lost in this apparent reaction and yell about the plight of the wild. The damage we are causing is hardly hidden, even here. The emotions presented can be shared. One may see the new mother figure as an environmental refugee with a gas mask. Though naked she is not erotic. There are also ghosts and empathy. The epiphanies are strained and painful. Wild to see the woman as soil and roots for the plants that grow out of her mouth. One can revel in the expression of the pain and controversy even if believed not to be widely expressed elsewhere.
Comment by AB: "A metaphorical and introspective exploration of our contradictory relationship with nature through dreamscapes and visual concepts." Good show; check it out.

Incline Gallery: Good Counsel. Co- Curated by Scott S. Jennings and Brian Perrin.
Artists: Claire Collette, Melissa C. Miller, Michelle Ramin, Zina Al-Shukri, Brooke Westfall, Laura Zuspan.
Comment by AB: The show's perplexing meander of a statement seems to say that each artist does whatever they feel like doing, and that's certainly what it agglomerate looks like to me. Something for everyone here-- paintings, reticulated photos, text-based art, video, drawings, conceptual works, stitchery, assemblage, artified rocks and more. Pick and choose your favorites; good quality art overall.
