The Luggage Store Gallery: Jack Leamy - Bigfoot/Littlefoot.
Comment by AB: Your first impulse on confronting Jack Leamy's unbridled color-crazed autobiographical allegories might be to do a quick 180 and scramble for the exit, but if you can endure the initial shock, you're in for an unexpurgated brain bending the likes of which you rarely get from art. Leamy, Headlands Center for the Arts 2010-2011 Tournesol Award winner, lets his inner self rip like few artists either can or care to. Tell me you don't have shit like this kicking around in your psyche, and I'll tell you you're dead. The difference between us and Leamy, though, is that he's got the moxie to splay it all out in every last tatter of its agonizing glory.
Review by RWM: Big colorful paintings about the continuity of life. There are also interesting explorations of our connections with the natural world. Surprisingly the colors do not seem to collide in these thoughtful pieces.
