African American Art & Culture Complex: Ramekon O'Arwisters - Sugar In Our Blood, The Spirit of Black and Queer Identity.

Comment by AB: This show is as much about art as it is about history, tradition, social interaction and community. Ramekon O'Arwisters enlists friends, volunteers and associates-- both artists and otherwise-- to participate in the traditional folk art of making rag rugs. During those rug weaving sessions is when conversations and dialogues between participants take place, increasing their awareness of one another's lives and strengthening the bonds between them, the totality of it all commemorated and symbolized by the collaborative fabric tapestries they create. Good show. Go see.

Hotel Biron: Nathan Richard Phelps - SPACE.

Comment by AB: Intricate precision black & white paintings and drawings by Nathan Richard Phelps look like microscopic enlargements or cross-sections of naturally occurring patterns or complex molecular structures. Challenging to photograph due to the low light, but I think you'll get the basic idea.
