Comment by AB: According to the proclamation, there's various antecedents and references and intimations and stuff which can be enlisted to explain the art, but for regular old dudes like me, I just plain get off on the quality-- particularly the furniture (or more formally... design objects) in the center of the gallery. Lake Gallery: Reconstruction - Photogenic drawings by Naomi Vanderkindren.
Review by RWM: Interesting exploration of memory and nostalgia. The family life seems pleasant enough, i.e. not always strange. Were those the good ole days? Interesting to see the family connections. Find the past here in these somber reflections.
Comment by AB: Naomi Vanderkindren waxes reflective, employing her considerable photographic skills to hypothetically insert herself into a family she never really knew that well, here reconfigured to her preferred imaginings. A poignant and penetrating encounter with the ancestors. Worth checking out.
