Catharine Clark Gallery: Nina Katchadourian - Seat Assignment.
Review by RWM: Fun to see the edgy work here as usual. It may make one wonder who is being talked about in Nina Katchadourian's not-only-personal mega dramaS. The great video of her singing along to Heavy Metal music will be remembered as well as her troubled lookS for self-portraitS which pose questions. The memorable work will amaze nonetheless.
Comment by AB: Since March 2010, Nina Katchadourian has been taking photographs and videos with her cell phone made exclusively during air travel, often incorporating available materials into her compositions such as paper towels, a neck support, paper toilet seat covers, articles of clothing, peanuts, magazine illustrations and the like. Her self-portraits striking Old Master poses are particularly entertaining. Her current oeuvre includes some 2500 still images and videos made during the course of over 40 different flights. Thank you Nina Katchadourian for upgrading the quality of all my future air travel. Special added bonus-- a rare Kenneth Baker sighting. This one's definitely worth a visit.

Review by Mairead O'Connor: There is something very special about this exhibition. Barry McGee shares with us a hand picked selection of paintings, photographs and various other items. The space is small and the overall feeling is intimate. This artwork is not a simple commodity, but rather a part of McGee's life.
Comment by AB: More of a happening than an art show, the smallish gallery is crammed with art arranged and displayed as only Barry McGee knows how, live bands play on the building's roof, and the outer walls of the building are emblazoned with spray paint and banners expressing an intensity of sentiments.
