The Luggage Store Gallery: Xara Thustra - Pop-Up Show.
Comment by AB: Another "Only from Xara Thustra" experience as the artist lavishes The Luggage Store with both new and older art and installations. It's a complete feast for the eyes... and mind... and stomach, because as is his tradition, Thustra also cooks up a delicious vegan meal for all. The side room at the rear of the gallery has been converted into a pop-up shop and crammed with screenprints-- rolled up, stitched together in groups of three, sold singly, and priced from $20-$100. Whatever prints haven't sold after a week are free for the taking (donations accepted of course), as Thustra once again reminds us with deeds-- not words-- that sometimes it's worthy to consider the well-being of others ahead of ourselves. Try it; you'll like it. Always a treat, and highly recommended.

FFDG: Going Nowhere - Alex Ziv & Mario Ayala.
Comment by AB: Two refreshing perspectives on America the Beautiful courtesy of Alex Ziv and Mario Ayala. Mario Ayala lays down his take on matters by combining everything from subdivision real estate, moolah, TV, bar codes and neon flowers to cockroaches, roach roaches, handguns, barbed wire, cigarettes, porn and impasto poo-like flourishes. Alex Ziv, meanwhile, does some blending of his own amalgamating pretty much everything from tattoo fonts, Old Glory, panties and booze to peace signs, Playboy, snaky babes and ponytails. Party!!! Good art on both counts; worth a visit.

Wonderland SF: Urban Jungle.
Artists: Alec Huxley, Calvin Wong, Daniel Valadez, David Flynn, Fred Goykhman, Hannah Sitzer, Jack Taylor, Jeffrey Nemenzo, Lacey Bryant, Matthew Dean, Melanie Alves, Ralph Browne, Revo Dubois, Sandra Rauch, Todd Laby.
Review by RWM: Wild show from The City by the Bay. Interesting variety from divergent voices, with pain and anguish on display, but also beauty to be shared. Nice place to see what people are finding worthy and personal.
