Fouladi Projects: Papers. Curated by Rudi Molacek.
Artists: Herbert Brandl, Chuck Connelly, Rudi Molacek, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Maria Serebriakova.
Comment by AB: Fouladi Projects is the brand new incarnation of former Lincart Gallery. For the inaugural show, Rudi Molacek brings together some of his longstanding artist friends to demonstrate what art, dialogue and camaraderie are all about.

The LAB: Cyclecide - Heavy Pedal Crank Art Exhibition.

Review by RWM: Bikes as an artistic and political statement go way back, as shown here. It is nice to see them appreciated, especially as gas prices and conflicts about gas continue to be an issue. Not only do bikes get us to exercise and not use depleted gas reserves, but they can also be a form of expression. Here one will find all manner of designs showing that bicycles have also been a result of artistic pursuits. Who would have figured. One can share here in the wonder and ingenuity. There is also history and fun on display. One can enjoy changing the world one bike at a time. Cool and surprising designs and contraptions displayed.
Comment by AB: Brought to you by Cyclecide Heavy Pedal Bike Rodeo, a club of bike mechanics/artists/alterers, the custom cycles on exhibit here are far more than transportation; they're exquisitely entertaining functional works of art.

Romer Young Gallery: Joshua Pieper - Nothing In Particular.
Comment by AB: Joshua Pieper works out of his apartment and according to the handout, his art derives largely from contemplations on his surroundings there. Are they something or are they nothing? Or are they everything? One thing for sure-- they're amusing aesthetic permutations of the everyday mundanities of life.

VASF Gallery at RVCA: THIS is US.
Artists: Jeremy and Claire Weiss, Aaron Farley, Justin Van Hoy.
Comment by AB: Four artists who comprise the gallery and artist space, THIS Los Angeles, pool their creative talents for the benefit of us Northerners. I'm told to keep an eye out for folds in art, apparently the latest artistic twist coming down the pike. Indeed there is a generous helping of that here.
