Don Soker Gallery: Tom Bills - New Cast Concrete and Steel Sculpture.
Review by RWM: Images of swimmers embedded in the vertical and horizontal features of Tom Bills' massive cast concrete sculptures give one reason to pause and reflect. The heavy textural and structural components capture moments in time, yet the movement still reverberates.

Jenkins Johnson Gallery: Francesca Sundsten - Portraiture.
Comment by AB: According to the handout, "portraiture is an artistic interpretation of a person or animal and often intends to capture the essence of the subject through its artistic application." Well, the essence in this exhibition of distorted human and animal portraits by Francesca Sundsten intrigues in strange and unsettling ways.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art: Now Playing.
Comment by AB: First in a series of three "Thursday Night Happenings" where the museum opens late, you get to enjoy complimentary cuisine samplings from a number of tony Ess Eff eating establishments, plus cash bars and all galleries including the roof garden. Entertainment is courtesy of Los Angeles-based art band My Barbarian. Mark your calendars for the final two installments-- April 15 and June 17. It's all yours for the price of admission. Worth it!!
In related news, they tell me downstairs that I can take pictures in the galleries. They tell me upstairs I can't. So I do both.
