Root Division: Centering The Margin. Curated by Anthony Ryan.
Artists: Jason Adams, Brian Caraway, Susanna Corcoran, Lizzy Cross, Michael Hall, Robin Johnston, Anna Kell, Sarah Newton, Byron Peters, Christine M. Peterson, Anthony Ryan, Michael Ryan, Jenny Salomon, Keith Southern, Eric Theise, Chris Thorson, Cara Tomlinson & Sean Regan, Devon Tsuno.
Comment by AB: According to the edict, the art is about "spaces, events and artifacts that exist just outside of our field of vision and attention." That explanation's not quite washing, but I suppose I have to take their word for it. Why? Because I can't see what's just outside my field of vision, so how can I possibly know whether the art is based that or not?
My personal pick - desolate rest area art by Sarah Newton.

Guerrero Gallery: The Brinksman - Cleon Peterson; When You Get Power - Bill McRight.
Comment by AB: In the front gallery, Cleon Peterson materializes a violent and ravaged reality in red, black and white where only mayhem reigns. In the rear gallery, cringe at Bill McRight's intimidating selection of crude handmade weapons-- shanks, shivs and bludgeons-- favored by street gangs, prisoners, thugs and the like. In order to accentuate the effect, he sets many of them into the carved out interiors of books. Intense on both counts, and worth a visit.

[ 2nd Floor Projects ]: Alexis Knowlton - 9 Balls; Jocelyn Saidenberg - Shipwreck, limited edition chapbook.
Comment by AB: Alexis Knowlton's labyrinth installation is a logistical challenge to navigate. If I recall correctly, there are only 8 balls pictured, but live with this long enough and, whether you like it or not, you'll be seeing 9 soon enough... perhaps even more.
