Comment by AB: Mexico City artist Curiot (Favio Martinez) introduces us here in The States to his intricate interpretive blends of surreal and traditional Mexican motifs, weaving in subplots of indigenous myths and legends. Worth a visit.

Needles & Pens: Ask the Dust - Joey Alone & Deuce 7.

Comment by AB: Joey Alone and Deuce 7 roam the land via its railroads, exploring grand natural habitats, abandoned infrastructure and wide open spaces. They share their experiences via elaborate pen and ink recollections, rock fragments, bone samples, plant specimens (both living and dead), and top it all off with a touch of fantasy. Stop on by.

Comment by AB: In the main gallery, owner/curator Justin Giarla gives us a 10-year look back at White Walls & Shooting Gallery's illustrious history with an exhibition of works from his personal collection as well as new works which preview the gallery's future. Also on the docket, cut and painted urban calligraphy courtesy of Max 'Ripo' Rippon, and wild colorific overlay scenarios by Joshua Petker. Plenty to see; go for it.

Comment by AB: Oakland's Creative Growth art center has provided studio space and facilities since 1974 for adult artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities. This exhibit features the work of some of their more established talents. Check it out.
