Spoke Art Gallery: Caia Koopman - Chromatic Erratics.
Review by Agnieszka Pilat: Caia Koopman's "Chromatic Erratics" solo show leaves me with a feeling of wanting more... I love the creative use of the tiny space of Spoke Art Gallery; one monumental piece took up pretty much the entire left wall and the opposite wall is filled up symmetrically arranged tiny pieces. This size contrast is certainly well thought out and I love how the show is installed. Well done indeed!
Caia's art is fun, light, colorful and nostalgic at the same time. She has a great sense of design and her color palette and the quality of line are her biggest strengths. A very enjoyable part of the show is actually a double wall of Caia's preliminary work-- a spread of drawings and brainstorming ideas that gives you an insight into her creative process. My only regret is that she didn't develop some of the drawings into finished pieces. The paintings she has on display are a bit repetitive, but I think there's a lot of potential in her preliminary drawings and I hope she will use them in her future work.
Comment by AB: Caia Koopman conclusively proves she can do one thing really well.
