Refusalon: Ducks in a Row (A short history of art since Chris Burden had himself shot).
Artists: Tony Labat, Joseph DeLappe, Jonathon Keats, Nat Wilson, Marcy Freedman, Mimi, Adam Gale, Guido Gerlitz, Guy Overfelt, Janine Gordon, Yoram Wolberger.
Comment by AB: Look out! Refusalon's back in town. After laying low for a number of years, the gallery is back on the scene once again in it's new subterranean digs just off Third Street in Dogpatch, and offering up a challenging array of conceptual, experimental and radical contemporary art.

The Workshop Residence: Jim Isermann.
Comment by AB: The Workshop Residence, founded by Ann Hatch, offers residencies to artists whose work crosses over into the realms of function and design. Jim Isermann's artful moving blankets and room dividers are currently on exhibit. A selection of decorative and functional items designed by artists is also available for purchase.

George Lawson Gallery: John Zinsser.
Review by RWM: Nice to have fun with the large painted brush strokes. Abstraction survives despite the competition. One can enjoy the texture as well as the purity of the colors. Paint as a magical substance here.

ArtZone 461 Gallery: E. Dale Erickson Recent Paintings; Small Works by Gallery and Guest Artists.
Artists in the group show: Adam Cahoon, Nicholas Coley, James Edmonds, Jane Fisher, Diana Lee, Heidi McDowell, Sonja Navin, Terry Thompson, Gage Opdenbrouw, Jon McNeal, Stan Washburn, Jose Ramon Lerma, Jeong-Im Yi, Hadley Northrop, Lucky Rapp, Tracy Taylor Grubbs, Kristen Tradowsky.
Review by RWM: Interesting landscapes and waterscapes by E. Dale Erickson. The style is familiar, but not quite identifiable. The land beckons despite elements of what pass for drawing. Some pictures seem still, but the water shimmers and shows the wondrous colors of the receding sunlight. Great pictures of water and the seas. Captured is the telling of encounters with the wild which are depicted in a timeless and welcoming ways.
Comment by AB: Also check out the show of small works in the side gallery.

Adobe Bookshop & Backroom Gallery: Adobe Lives!
Comment by AB: Fundraiser to save the Mission District's storied crossroads of culture, quality used books, art gallery, performance space, host to readings and live music, meeting place and haven to creatives of all ilks, the Adobe Bookshop. If they can't raise some significant operating expenses soon, it's bye-bye Adobe, and none of us want that. Lend a hand if you can (or better yet, $$$)!
Proprietor Andrew McKinley says, "Help save Adobe Books."

Gallery 60SIX: Stain - Julian Hoenig.
Comment by AB: Noted industrial designer Julian Hoenig demonstrates his artistic acuity in a series of color field works consisting of wood stain on Japanese mulberry paper. As noted in the show statement, the combination of toxic stains and pure paper alludes to the precarious state of our environment today. Also on display are several intricate graphic works consisting of numerous overlaid schematic diagrams or plans.
