Electric Works Gallery: Proscenium - Candace Plummer Gaudiani; Scott Kildall - Future Memories.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: The theatrical framing enables us to concentrate more on the natural subjects in the pictures. In particular, the strong contrast between the shown dark curtain and the vibrant colored images is really breathtaking.
Review by RWM: Difficult to capture the scenery from a traveling train in still photographic images. Nice to see the motion of the passing countryside regardless, sometimes effectively portrayed, other times less so. The window framing does seem to engage the viewer longing for escape, and you can transport yourself away for a time in these larger than life settings.
Comment by AB: In the parlor, Scott Kildall's video, Future Memories, splices together "in-between" scenes from Hollywood movies where nothing's really happening. When does nothing plus nothing equal something? Here.

31 Rausch Street: Joseph Orosco Demaree - Bending and Walking Lines, An Explosive Exploration into Free Dumb.
Comment by AB: Extensive display of painting, drawing, and photography doubles as a studio sale 'cuz Joseph Orosco Demaree is off to San Diego. What's in it for you? Unbeatably affordable prices-- $20-$200.

Jancar Jones Gallery: Orion Shepherd.
Review by RWM: Fascinating uses of images and historical icons. One may never look at the wood paneling the same way again.
Review by Anneliese Vobis: Orion Shepherd's transport us to a magical mixed-media world with pronounced surrealistic overtones. Dreamlike, otherworldly compositions seem to generate never-ending stories. Despite the small venue we are enveloped by big deep meaningful projects.
Comment by AB: Orion Shepherd finds a use for old frames that none of his friends like.

Triple Base Gallery: Alexander Kori Girard - Axis Mundi; The Romanov - Portraits by Chechu Álava.
Comment by AB: An Alexander Kori Girard opening is more like an experience than an art show, and a kinda cosmic one at that. Don't miss the kaleidoscopic video montage in the basement. In the back gallery, ghostly portraits by Chechu Álava make you wonder whether the sitters are here or hereafter.

Fivepoints Arthouse: Tokyo Pop!! Winston Smith and Kosuke Kawamura. Special Guest Artist, Kyotaro.
Comment by AB: Individual and collaborative works by all three artists. The star of the show? A fantastical multipanel watercolor by Kyotaro (it's not the original, unfortunately, but a pretty good reproduction).
Lengthy watercolor vignette art by Kyotaro (like it).

The Spare Room Project: A Night of Picture and Song - Jordan Reznick & Zoë Sundra.
Review and images by Anneliese Vobis: Jordan Reznick's photographs carry us to Oregon's nature. She captures compelling moments where humans and nature interact. Great interest in the presentation of exciting details and excellent compositions. The emotional expressive relationships are something not to be missed.
