Dolby Chadwick Gallery: The Fox and the Hedgehog - Alex Kanevsky.
Comment by AB: Alex Kanevsky seamlessly blends representational with nonrepresentational elements. His figures play against abstract backgrounds, yet the compositions inevitably resolve into completely convincing realities. Go see.

Caldwell Snyder Gallery: Geometry of Gravity, Realigning the California Landscape - Deladier Almeida.
Review by RWM: Back to the farm in these wonderful pictures of the farm fields and streams as seen from the heights. Nice to connect with the green spaces that support and nourish us. One can breathe the fresh humid air coming from these fields.
Comment by AB: Unapologetic simulations of Wayne Thiebaud Sacramento Delta landscapes.

Jack Fischer Gallery: Options - New Work by Richard Bassett.
Comment by AB: Photorealism is not a term typically applied to needlepoint, but it's spot on here. As if Richard Bassett's impeccably stitched kitty and puppy pillows aren't astonishing enough, check out his trompe l'oeil pencil drawings of braille sayings on the wall. While I'm at it, I might as well slap a rare and highly coveted "How Do Dey Do Dat" award on Bassett's thread works. They're impossibly good. Definitely worth a visit.

Bekris Gallery: Textura - A Group Show.
Artists: Nnenna Okore, Etiye Dimme Poulsen, Abdoulaye Ndoye.
Review by RWM: Great work from the African continent. Nice sculptures from our origins in Ethiopia. Interesting use of materials for colorful displays which fascinate as we wonder what they are made of.
