Meridian Gallery: Patrick Graham - 30 Years, The Silence Becomes the Painting.
Comment by AB: Commendable abstract representational textual blends courtesy of Irish artist Patrick Graham-- thirty years worth-- a Peter Selz pick of the eons, and they're certainly worthy. No peep outta me on that score. So OK. Let's dig deeper. Top price for the bigguns here is in the vicinity of $130K. I'm instantly suspicious; that's some serious simoleons. So I access my trusty art auction price databases in search of liquid dollar amounts, in other words, what the art sells for when there's zero fanfare, no gallery calling the shots, and the art goes to the highest bidder regardless. Top price on the block? About $8K. Now admittedly, no monsters like the ones on exhibit here have come up for sale, but still...
Prices aside, stop on by. Worth a visit.

18 Reasons: Julia Anne Goodman - Radical Papyrus.
Comment by AB: Julia Goodman makes art paper out of beets, and that's good, 'cuz outside of borscht, I'm not a player-- ingestionally, that is. Visually satisfying, though, which is with art what ultimately counts.

Mission Comics & Art: VS - A Show of Opposites, New Works by SF and LA Artists.
Artists: Anand Duncan, Emma Sancartier, Alina Chau, Liana Hee, Ashley Fisher, Karen Krajenbrink, Bill Robinson, Ryan Hungerford, Cat Maske, Shiu Pei Luu, Chris Vear, Sho Murase, Daisy Church, Sherry Delorme, Denise "Dee" Chavez, Steph Laberis, Erin Leong, Wednesday Kirwan, Katherine Waddell.
Comment by AB: A mix of meritable art and illustration by San Francisco and Los Angeles artists. The event is a complete sellout; I can barely navigate the situation. We are brethren and sistren in the same state-- LA and SF-- even though we don't often behave that way. But we do here tonight.

Eleanor Harwood Gallery: Muscle Beach - Gideon Chase.
Review by Clare Coppel: Small vibrant detailed fairytale figures floating in rich white negative space (Chase knows how to pick a nice paper). Ogres, knights, a particle board princess and beheaded watermelons joke and ask questions of the viewer.
Comment by AB: My pinkie cam is happy. Stop on by.
