Gauntlet Gallery: FRONTERA, Artifacts from Another Dimension - René Garcia, Jr.
Comment by AB: In addition to his great glitter paintings, René Garcia, Jr. adds substantially to his repertoire with light box art, 3-D eyeglass art, an a-bomb throw rug, do-it-yourself art, and more. Always entertaining.

Ever Gold Gallery: Mauricio Ancalmo - Krap Etag Nedlog Reve.
Comment by AB: Mauricio Ancalmo creates a multimedia indoor version of Golden Gate Park (the show's title being "Ever Golden Gate Park" spelled backwards). The adventure begins with a video projected over a drawing of the sculpture at the start of the Panhandle in the front room, and ends with a sand-covered floor and video of crashing waves at the beach in the back room. Aesthetic options in between the two include fresh turf on the main gallery floor, videos of the sun shining and a kite flying positioned near or on the ceiling, drawings, actual samples of the park preserved in lab bottles, a five stacked monitors playing a video of Rainbow Falls, and more. Worth a visit.

Dogpatch Cafe: MIND // SPACE - Craig Dorety & Tenkai Kariya.
Review by RWM: Amazing psychedelics. Beautiful colors in spacey artwork. Great use of computer graphics to produce conglomerations which one may not have the patience to create with paint. The color contrasts will surprise and defy expectations, making the work intriguing and captivating to an extent. Wonderful visual adventures for the observers. Interesting lighted sculptures on the wall. One does not need a reason why here.

Comment by AB: Megan Cerminaro unearths mementos of her family's past including vintage VHS tapes, photographs, teeth and miscellaneous tchotchkes, and creates an installation around the various ways in which we all document and catalogue our lives.
