San Francisco Art Institute: Francis Cape - Utopian Benches.
Comment by AB: See Francis Cape's exceptionally well-constructed replicas in poplar of 17 bench styles that were originally crafted and used by 19th century American communal societies including the Shakers, Amana Inspirationists, Zoar Separatists, the Harmony Society and others. The benches are arranged in rows, much as they would have been back in the day, providing a perfect setting for gatherings, contemplation, dialogue, higher thinking, and reflection on the values of the past, the state of the present, and possibilities for the future.
Hopefully this and similar exhibitions and installations will help can the babble from the "craft is not art" ninnies.

April in Paris: April in Paris - Lisa Bostwick.
Comment by AB: April in Paris serves as studio, workshop and retail space for master artisan and designer Béatrice Amblard's fine leather accessories (formerly with Hermes, Paris). Those qualifications make this the perfect venue for Lisa Bostwick's idyllic paintings of, you guessed it... April in Paris. While you're there enjoying the paintings, check out the leatherwork for sale- it's awesome.
