Modernism Inc: Andreas Nottebohm - Electrical Ether.

Review by RWM: Amazing psychedelic illusions on metal that change as the viewer moves around them. Wonderful color schemes and transforming visuals. Such works develop lives of their own adding glimmer and gleam to rooms that might otherwise be drab. Interesting and unusual choice of materials. Fun to see metal used here to create vital experiences for the viewer.

Comment by AB: Andreas Nottebohm buffs, burnishes and tints flat aluminum surfaces to create magical three-dimensional effects.

The Dryansky Gallery: David Mitchell - Boundaries.

Comment by AB: David Mitchell starts with sketches, collages and assemblage, and progressively transforms these constructions into abstract photographs with architectural overtones. Mitchell was born in England and currently lives in Southeast Asia.

Heritage Auctions: Mort Kunstler - One Man's Adventure.

Comment by AB: Classic works by premier American illustrator Mort Kunstler consist of the manliest of manly adventures. It's all action all the time-- military exploits, jungle encounters, shoot-em-up scenarios, and babes babes babes. Doesn't get much better than this.

Mission Cultural Center: Lo Real Maravilloso - Jeremiah Barber and Ingrid Rojas Contreras. Curated by Sanaz Mazinani.

Comment by AB: Arcane multimedia exhibition and installation by husband & wife team Jeremiah Barber and Ingrid Rojas Contreras encompasses sculpture, photography, video, text, works on paper and more. The works are personal, historical, autobiographical and laced with ritual, tradition, legend and otherworldly occurrences. Rojas' grandfather was a medicine man in Colombia and Barber's father was a pastor in the American Midwest. The story starts there...
