Comment by AB: Washington, DC artist Molly Springfield has perfected the art of drawing exact reproductions of photocopies, so accurate as to be virtually indistinguishable from the originals, no matter how closely you examine them. In fact, it's sometimes even hard to tell that they're drawings at all. Here, she reproduces pages and portions of pages containing both printed and handwritten text by first enlarging them repeatedly with a photocopier and then drawing the enlargements in pencil. To top it all off, she also exhibits two pencil drawings of progressively enlarged photocopies of hands-- equally amazingly precise as well. Definitely a visit.

Comment by AB: Just like the show title says-- contemporary renditions of classic compositions. Not totally sure of the sources of some of the oeuvres in this mixed bag enterprise, but am of others so I suppose it's a break even experience.
