Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art: Controlled Environments.
Artists: Kim Keever, Davida Nemeroff, Christine Nguyen, Heidi Norton, Wintergarten Ltd.
Review by Kathryn Arnold: This inspiring exhibition includes video, slide projections using recycled imagery, installation of a gardener's circumstance (with dead/almost dead plants), C-prints from the water/matter experimentations (imaginary landscapes constructed and photographed underwater), collage and inkjet-- all compiled to portray incidents of control upon our existence(s). The works are selected and placed in such a way as to create new meanings and relationships that viewers can dig into.

Creativity Explored: Pablo Calderon: Nine Years in the Making.
Comment by AB: Fantasy contraptions in wild vibrant colors by Salvadorian artist Pablo Calderon have major potential to make driving fun again. I can easily imagine myself tooling through the Mission in any one of these...

Romer Young Gallery: Lucy Pullen - Hue.
Comment by AB: Colored plexiglass and reflective fabric are combined into precise floor-bound constructions; the fabric is also fashioned into hanging polygons. The whole gets me reminiscing on Modernist movements like De Stijl, but at the same time is independently contemporary. I have to say that when art is about accuracy, which this art is, precision workmanship is required, and frankly, I would have liked to see bit more of that here.

Artists: Anybody who wants to.
Review and images by Mairead O'Connor: Free admission, free paint, free brushes, free wall space, cheap drinks. Three words-- OFF THE HOOK! Hands down, this is the best new art event in the city and it happens every Thursday here at Club Six! It starts with a free class taught by a local artist from six to seven, followed by the event itself.
