Jessica Silverman Gallery: Dashiell Manley - Time seems sometimes to stop.
Comment by AB: On his large-scale multi-layered paintings, Dashiell Manley inscribes words from New York Times front page news stories. They look kinda like Twombly's you can read. Also on display are glass and mirrored cuboids (the component parts not terribly well leaded together) which reference the relative sizes and positions of photos on those NYT front pages. Good show; check it out.

Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art: Staycation - Sarah Thibault.
Comment by AB: Sarah Thibault harks back to the heyday of 1960s Hippiedom with this whimsical psychedelic tribute. She tells me the art also references a period in the 1990s when apparently the ethos of the era was glorified once again.

Glama-Rama: It's Only Rock & Roll, But I Like It - danyol.
Review by RWM: I like these works-- rock and roll with pop & pleasure. Fun art. Provocative images. You can take home a piece of the entertainment which celebrates the child-like sensibility of popular & commercial icons.
Comment by AB: Amusing paint, collage and assemblage combinations are comprised of peculiarities like Star Wars toys, shoes and boots, compressed air capsules, play money, advertisements and more.

StoreFrontLab: Give - Bird Feliciano and Juliana Raimondi.
Review by RWM: Clothes are falling from the sky, but we don't seem to need that much with the wonderful but eerie weather we are having due to Global Warming. Interesting encounter here with something you might not have experienced before. Lively show which puts old clothes to a good and unusual use.
Comment by AB: According to the explanatory, "the materials take on a new purpose, becoming artifacts of daily life, translating the beauty of the mundane into an experience that provokes wonder and excitement." To me, it's bunch of old clothes hung from the ceiling with no particular thought, care or concern applied to overall aesthetics or design. But no big deal. Everyone's still having a good time.

Adobe Backroom Gallery: Gordon Winiemko - My Mission Playground.
Comment by AB: I would have given this multi-screen video commentary on Mission District gentrification the thumbs-up if Gordon Winiemko hadn't videoed the perfectly pleasant, trusting and welcoming couple currently living in his old apartment on false pretenses. So instead, the show gets a thumbs-down.
