Haines Gallery: Kota Ezawa - The Curse of Dimensionality; Taha Belal - The Atmosphere from before the Step Down Returns to the Square.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, Kota Ezawa plays with perspective, flattening 3-D images to 2 and upgrading 2-D images to 3-- in stills, videos, photographs, collages, and light boxes. I suppose it's an artful way of saying that there's more than one way to look at anything. Along similar lines, Taha Belal lays meticulous cut-paper grids over Middle Eastern newspaper coverage of political events, reminding us that the news we read depends on whose perspective we're reading it through.

Robert Koch Gallery: Shai Kremer - Fallen Empires.
Comment by AB: Shai Kremer photographs ruins in Israel, both ancient and recent. Nothing but destruction. Is all that fighting really worth it? Plenty of people seem to think so.
