Jessica Silverman Gallery: An Uncanny Order - Sebastian Fierro, Matt Lipps, Nevine Mahmoud
Comment by AB: Oil paintings by Sebastian Fierro look as good close-in as they do at a distance-- the colors, how the compositional elements relate, and the orderliness of the brushstrokes. Photo constructions by Matt Lipps are confident and precise, and cast, carved and laminated sculptures by Nevine Mahmoud are serene, satisfying and have an undercurrent of optimism. I love well-made art, and that's what we've got here.

Comment by AB: Survey of contemporary and modern Japanese photography, mainly from the mid- to late twentieth century. Worth a visit. Apologies on the captions-- not enough price lists. This one couple had two of the few lists between them and wouldn't let me borrow or even hold one to look at. Thanks jerks.

Ever Gold [Projects]: Mark Flood - Paintings From The War For Social Justice
Comment by AB: Mark Flood takes a little time off from his bread & butter art to say a few choice words about interpersonal interactions on the Internet in particular, and on Facebook in particularly particular. But you can see some bread & butter art too.

Casemore Kirkeby: Viviane Sassen - Pikin Slee; Elspeth Diederix - In These Shadows
Comment by AB: Dutch artists and longtime friends Viviane Sassen and Elspeth Diederix show a selection of their recent work. Semi-abstractions of people and places by Viviane Sassen contrast with mainly plant life by Elspeth Diederix. Check it out.
