Modernism Gallery: Jerry Kearns - Give and Take; Peter Sarkisian - Recent Works.
Comment by AB: Nothing's sacred when it comes to art and mind of Jerry Kearns. Toss Jesus into the middle of a Lichtenstein POP-scape and see what happens. In the rear gallery, Peter Sarkisian projects complex colorific videos that mimic mechanical actions onto sculptures like one of a robot and another of a fly. Good show; stop on by.

Gallery Wendi Norris: Protest Fantasies - Chitra Ganesh; Chris Fraser - Animated.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, mixed-media paintings with collaged elements by Chitra Ganesh symbolize various forms of protest. In the side gallery, Chris Fraser presents a series of light and metal sculptures that appear as changing patterns when you move around them. Several sets of abstract black & white photographs are also on display.

Fraenkel Gallery: Nicholas Nixon - About Forty Years.
Comment by AB: This 40-year survey of Nicholas Nixon's photography touches on a range of subjects from portraits of the very elderly extremes of aging to non-postcard cityscapes and touching visions of intimacy. Worth seeing.

Coalition on Homelessness at SOMArts Gallery: Art Auction 15.
Artists: Over 150.
Comment by AB: Annual fundraiser auction to support the Coalition on Homelessness, actively organizing since 1987 to expand housing and opportunities for the poor, homeless and needy. Over 150 works of art up for bids at both silent and live auctions. Always worth attending.

CCA Wattis Institute: Sam Lewitt - More Heat than Light; Frances Scholz and Mark von Schlegell - Amboy.
Comment by AB: In the main gallery, Sam Lewitt's installation is all about deliberately inefficient systems. In the rear gallery, see a mulit-screen horror video, Amboy, by Frances Scholz and Mark von Schlegell.
