Velvet da Vinci: Lisa and Scott Cylinder - Transpositions; New Work by Susie Ganch.
Comment by AB: Discards gone wild in their new incarnations by Lisa and Scott Cylinder. Also on the docket, Susie Ganch fashions intricate sculptural wonders based largely on circular and symmetrical forms.

Canessa Gallery: Ruins of Detroit - Joshua Band.
Review by RWM: Witness the ghost town that Detroit has become in all its squalor. No fun here for those who care to introspect, but the images do suggest a tale of the demise that has taken place. The city is experienced through empty rooms that no longer support life. The debris that remains is apalling in a strangely decadent kind of way.

Comment by AB: What does "black" mean? Find out here. Several high points make it all worthwhile, particularly Josh Hagler's uncommonly creepy portraits. Stop on by.

Galeria Zapatista - Mission Grafica at Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts: Migration.
Artists: Art Hazelwood, Calixto Robles, Christo Oropeza, Gato, Melanie Cervantes, Jesus Barraza, Maria Uriol, Francisco Dominguez, Douglas Minkler, Gina Chinchilla, T P 28 J, more.
Review by RWM: The assembled artists endeavor to set the record straight, successfully communicating the message from peoples who have been catching all hell. It has been and continues to be a hell of a struggle, one that has recently taken a downturn for many who may never really have access to a piece of the pie. The sad truth is encountered and conveyed to us by brave voices who document this plight.

Queens Nails Projects: Fault - Three Intimations by Conrad M. Meyers II.
Review by RWM: See amazing digital technology here, deployed in a manner that reminds of the oil that seeped for months into the waters of the gulf, and though localized, was a tragedy for all. Fascinating motion; new sources of modality. You cannot help but think when witnessing these digital videos how actions and processes permeate, pervade and at times run amok.
Comment by AB: Conrad Meyers tells me his fascinating video imagery is created entirely by digital means. Good stuff, and definitely worth a drive by. Yes, the soundtracks are characteristically nebulous (hey video artists-- sound should not be an afterthought), but the visuals more than make up for it.
