San Francisco Museum of Modern Art: 2017 SECA Art Award
Artists: Liam Everett, Alicia McCarthy, Sean McFarland, K.r.m. Mooney, Lindsey White.
Comment by AB: The acronym SECA stands for Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art. The purpose of the award is call attention to the work of deserving Bay Area artists, and is accomplished by spotlighting their art at SFMOMA. This time around experience Alicia McCarthy's color-rich configurations, Liam Everett's meticulously worked layered patterned abstractions, comic relief from Lindsey White, cryptic sculptural composites incorporating functional and post-functional ingredients by K.r.m. Mooney, and diverse involved photographic journeys by Sean McFarland. There's a learning curve at times, but definitely recommended regardless.
