Comment by AB: Opening tonight and on view in the downstairs exhibition space through June 25, Cary Liebowitz creates a combination installation focusing on growing up Jewish in the suburbs circa the 60s and 70s, and growing up gay. The art is largely text-based, autobiographical and kind of inside-the-beltway in terms of content, but anyone who has had similar upbringings or experiences will appreciate it, perhaps in not-so-comfortable ways, though, as it's distressingly direct, honest and accurate on any number of counts. Upstairs in the main exhibition space and on view through April 2, 24 artists make art about personal experiences and generational memories. Anyone will find commonalities with their own lives and histories and plenty of fodder for contemplation. Worth a visit.
