IN THE SUMMER 04 OPENING 06.09.04 Comment: If Rex Ray wasn't part of this show, I'd have been gone in a sparkling water and a half a bread stick (about two minutes). I know what you're thinking-- Ray's stuff all looks the same and you're right, but he puts it together so well and in a variety of different mediums, this time being paper collage, acrylic and resin on board-- tight and professional even when you zoom in close to see if he made any teensie weensie flubs (but they only look better). I fired up the crystal ball and augur corporate commissions for Ray if he can make these babies big enough (maybe he already has). The rest of the show is pretty much of a wash, a painting here, a photograph there, a sculpture on a pedestal, you know the drill. And the place was crawling with freeloaders, this being the only opening in town, surely inflicting a painful case of wine elbow on the nice woman manning the beverage table. Artist/Artists: Jason David, Susan Freda, Munson Hunt, Henry Jackson, Erin Parish, Rex Ray, Rocky Schenck, Rebecca Szeto, Tara thacker, Megan Vossler.
