Comment: Matt Gonzalez art openings have become so popular and so crowded that the freeloaders are having trouble getting to the cheese. The real story behind these events, however, the one that transcends the artists they show and the interdisciplinary networking opportunities they provide, is the steadfast, unrelenting, and nonjudgmental support that Gonzalez gives to San Francisco's monster creative community-- the hard working, vibrant, struggling creative community, that is. Supporting the symphony, the ballet, the opera, and MOMA is easy; supporting those who sweat to survive is courageous. Note to Matt: Larger quarters for next show.
