JACOB A. PFEIFFER; RECENT OIL PAINTINGS OPENING 10.15.04 Comment: All John Pence artists are good; Jacob A. Pfeiffer is really good. In fact, he's so good that much of the art in the show is already sold, and it's only opening night. The compositions are pure Pence-- the usual fare-- still-life, tromp l'oeil, fruit, vegetables, bowls, glass, objects hanging by string or tacked to walls or unexpectedly arranged, that sort of thing. But Pfeiffer's renditions are so well painted, the brush strokes are so fine, the details are so... well... er... detailed, that these compositions rise above most others of their genre. They have a smoothness, a softness about them, a quality that approaches intangible, and when paint turns intangible, when art does things to you-- when you're not quite sure what it's doing or how it's doing it-- but you know you feel differently than you did before you started looking at it (and you like the way you feel), then that's worth paying for. Pfeiffer is 30 years old and he lives in Milwaukee. Artist/Artists: Jacob A. Pfeiffer.
