ART AT THE DUMP REPORTED BY KATHRYN WARD 09.22.06 Art at the Dump (Artist In Residence - (AIR) - SF Recycling & Disposal): Kim Weller - Friendly Fire; Noah Wilson - Perfectly Good. Comment: I enjoyed visiting this exhibition this past Saturday. The two artists seem to create work in contrast to one another. Noah uses the recycling & disposal center in a different way than Kim. The two processes produce interesting work that brings the past into the present. I particularly enjoyed Noahıs "Adopt a Plant" section. I personally adopted a plant and received some morsels of plant wisdom from Noah himself which made me feel a bit more relaxed about the responsibility. Thanks Noah. Art (Noah Wilson). Kim's pieces are inspired by her interest in the Archie comics. Her approach to the residency is a bit different from Noah's. Kim tells me she needed to focus a bit more because the resources at the recycling and disposal center are so vast that it became distracting. So, she used the center to find the materials needed to realize her idea. Art (Kim Weller). Art (Kim Weller). Art (Kim Weller). Kim Weller - art. Art (Kim Weller). *** |
