Comment by AB: Atlanta, Georgia painter Fahamu Pecou opines on the mainstream media, particularly on how they portray black males, by painting himself into mass market magazine covers. Plenty to reflect on here. In the side gallery, Yvonne Lee Schultz provides additional food for thought (literally as well as figuratively) in her series of photographs of small children playing with scale model chocolate guns. Comment by AB: Part II of a three-part series of group shows in this temporary exhibition space (a "repurposed" garage on Clara Street) "addresses the idea of art as cognitive remnant." Uh... OK. The art's decent-- SFAI in flavor-- and that includes the lemonade stand. My favorite? A kinetic contraption that endlessly blows a plastic grocery store bag around and around-- just like the ones you see endlessly blowing around the streets of San Francisco (and everywhere else on the planet).

Comment by AB: Spray paint stencils meet gender politics, the individual stencils wallpapering the gallery, plus special added attraction-- a video of nude models with images projected onto their bodies. Plus all kinds of kicky peeps runnin' around.

Comment by AB: A select selection of gossamer drawings with watercolor, collage, and embellished with occasional weavings by Kristine Reano-- about as delicate is delicate gets. Quite a few pieces are sold, mainly because they're priced real right considering the quality, most low to mid hundreds $$.
