Geras Tousignant Gallery: Jordi Gispert - Flora Offering Comment by AB: Surrealist Jordi Gispert is already well-known in his homeland of Spain. In this, his first solo show in America, he proffers a convincing environmental message with his portrayals of a pristine planet-- greener than green, bluer than blue, purer than pure, beyond beautiful. His vision is something we'd better get ultra serious about working towards soon. Good show; go see. Paintings by Jordi Gispert. Art. Jordi Gispert. Art. Art. A little one. Art. Comment by AB: As a sidelight and in support of the arts, builder/contractor Jeff King of Jeff King & Co. holds art shows at his offices, a good-sized airy location at the corner of Balboa and 4th Avenue. Comment by AB: Small edition prints, stencils, and original works on paper by Geoff McFetridge, decidedly graphic in nature, transit a range of realms including but not limited to city life, surfing, meditation, trademarks, the open sea, logos, and more. The limited edition prints are particularly crisp; the larger more detailed images, particularly engaging in terms of the relationships of the objects to each other. Another worthy show for Mollusk. Comment by AB: Artists open their studios all across the Mission District this weekend. Here's a sampling of opening night art and artist festivities from the spacious 1890 Bryant Street Studios. Comment by AB: Space Gallery principal Ray Morrone explains it to me this way-- the SF State Journalism Department gives journalism students from colleges around the Bay Area 24 hours to complete an assignment, that assignment being to submit one photograph depicting some aspect of the theme "High and Low." The results are on display here for perusal and balloting. A winner will be chosen. Journalism photography. Photos. Photographs. Photography. *** |
